=================================================================================== Mar 24, 2001 =================================================================================== Title : Gervasius' Archery Tournament (GAT) Author : Mike Hopper Contact Info : mikehopper@netscape.net Homepage : None available Date of Release : March 2001 Description : An outdoor adventure that can be pursued by luck, strategy, sneaking skill, or a combination of the above --I built this level after watching the Olympics... =============================================================================== Briefing (english only) : Before his encounters with Truart and Karras, as told in T2-TMA, Garrett knew well the plotting nature of these fellows. They both worked with Lord Gervasius on his archery games every year and there were whispered rumors that the games were no longer "for sport" with these two involved. But I'll let Garret explain: "Lord Gervasius is one of the wealthiest men in the world and he loves archery. For many years, he has invited the best archers in the world to travel to his Archery Games to compete for elaborate, and expensive, prizes. There is great competition to be recognized as the best archer in the world and Lord Gervasius plays this like a real showman. In recent years, this competition has grown to include many offbeat archery games and contests, and the games extend over several days. Crowds flock to these events--Lord Gervasius earns a lot wealth and influence as a result. Although it's not cheap to get in, every arena seat is always filled. More than just popular, these games are a spectacle for the fans who are drawn here. I've been and it is impressive. "Anyway, it seems Lord Gervasius has joined up with a Mechanist named Karras in preparation for this year's games. A young mechanist knows the Grand Prize this year is extremely rare and he's asked Cutty to obtain it. This seems unusual, but Cutty says the young mechanist wants the prize so he can leave the mechanist order. I told Cutty it may be trap, but he's confident in my ability--especially since he's not getting himself involved with Sheriff Truart anymore. I'll have to be careful. There's probably lots of Mech security...of course nothing I can't handle, I'm sure. "The games open in two days and Cutty has promised to split his profits with me if I can get the prize for him. He says it is a golden skull, mounted over a fountain somewhere in Archery Gardens. He gave me a parchment from last year's games which shows the Archery Village and Pavillion in good detail. The map of the garden just shows bits and pieces. The garden itself is apparently a maze but Cutty didn't get the details. Guess I'm on my own...what else is new? "There's probably other items of interest (and value) that would make this adventure more worth my while. I'll have to keep my eyes open for other opportunities."
