This FM is MEANT to be dark! Storyline : "I've 'overheard' some interesting things from opposing thieves, they've set out to find the 'Suffer Catalyst', they don't know what it is, but they know how to get to it! Even the Hammers are looking for this, and they have been infiltrated by Mechanists, so it must be VERY valuable! My mission starts in a cave somewhere; I'm not sure where so I'll follow the thieves! Once I'm in I'll give them a while to get ahead so I don't run into any. The story of what I'm after is a strange one. A man named Faustus made a house a very long time ago his own, it was built in a time when it was feared that the builder had been angered and would set a rain of flame onto the world, the house(or the “shelter of the apocalypse“) has thick walls, and few windows, so those within could survive the terror, though the rain never happened and so the shelter was abandoned. Several years later (still a very long time before the present) Faustus simply entered the house and made it his own, often having people over, as he hated being alone there. Around a year after he had moved in, Faustus found to his horror, a graveyard in his back garden, and upon his first time entering his basement(which he didn't feel he needed) he found out, it was a crypt. It seems the house was built on the base of an old crypt and cemetery! To help himself forget about these, he broke the door to the 'basement' after locking it, he had the key destroyed. The next surprise came to him when he found the keys to the two doors that lead to the attic, one to a stairway, another to the attic itself! When he entered the attic, he found statues of hammers with strange magical force between them, very brightly lit by an eerie red coming from the altar in the middle of the room! Upon the altar, lay some object, though this information didn't contain what the object was! Faustus, in utter worry, called in the only people he felt he could trust, the hammerites. They were in awe at what they saw, and told Faustus to keep the door locked, until their return. Though upon their return, Faustus had hidden the keys and refused to let the Hammerites see the 'Catalyst' as they called it, so they left, but being the good willed people they are, they had their priest commit a sacrifice to the Builder (of an early mechanist priest who tried to infiltrate the hammers and preach.) he was sacrificed for heresy, though at the same time his body would protect Faustus from being attacked from the feared undead from the crypt, Faustus begged the Hammerites to do this, they did, though also, they had Faustus' house surrounded by a thick forest, so he would be stuck there. Recent documents of this have forced Hammerites to try and relocate what later became known as 'The Suffer Catalyst'. They successfully got a portal working, bringing them past the forest, and somewhere near Faustus' house, though none who they sent through the portal returned, so whether they died because of a portal backfire, or an unknown horror, remains unknown... MY job is to make sure that neither the mechanists, hammerites nor thieves get their hands on whatever the 'Suffer Catalyst' is, so I have to go in, killing anyone in my way, and anyone that sees me(the last thing I need is to have the 3 biggest 'groups' around after my head because someone got away), since I've been taking a little 'break' the past while, I've been doing some research, and I know my places and a thing or two about ancient artefacts! The famous crypt beneath the furnished shelter of the apocalypse has plenty of items that will catch more than a pretty penny" =========================================================== *Play information* Game :Thief II: the metal age Level name :The Suffer Catalyst File names :miss20.mis Difficulty settings :yes (big differences between difficulties) Equipment store :no Map/automap :blank map!
