=================================================================================== Sep 14, 2002 =================================================================================== Author : Ymochel (DS Schwarzkopf) Contact Info : thief@ymochel.com Homepage : http://www.ymochel.com Date of Release : Sep 14, 2002 Version : 1.1 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESURGENCE DEMO - MISSION 1: THE ANCIENT CROWN This mission pack is not set in the Thief Universe - at least not in The City and not in Garrett's time period. I have had this plan for many years and felt that the Dark engine with its flexibility is very suited for this modification. The setting is inspired by the film noir and goth horror genres. I hope you like it. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO READ ALL BOOKS!!! There are many lengthy books that are mostly decoration. They give some info on the setting, or even drop a hint at a rare secret, HOWEVER, rest assured that never will there be a crucial plot-relevant hint buried deep in some wordy tome. All information you need to complete a level can be found without having to read more than three pages of any particular book/scroll/letter. =================================================================================== * Introduction * Welcome to Stardawn City, the "Haven of Truth" as some call it. Heh, Truth... if there was so much of that around here, they wouldn’t need people like me. I am Steven Crane, a private eye. I do all sorts of things: Some hire me to find their lost kids or old debtors. Others want me to spy on their cheating spouses or retrieve incriminating evidence on their hated rivals. Put briefly, I do the dirty work they are scared of doing themselves. No questions asked, of course. That’s part of the service... Earlier this evening I got a phone call from a certain Miss Parker, a rich antique collector from Cardinal Hill. Seems like one of her precious pieces was stolen, and she wants me to find out who did it. She's on the way to my office now to fill me in on the details... =================================================================================== * Playing Information * Game : Thief: The Metal Age Mission Title : The Ancient Crown File Name : miss20.mis Briefings : Not in conventional Thief style but in engine Difficulty Settings : Yes New Graphics : Yes New Sounds : Yes New Objects : Yes New AIs : Yes Equipment Store : No (not planned in the design of the series) Map : No (not yet in this demo anyway) Difficulty Level Info : Novice / Acolyte / Master (missions are designed in such a way that it should take a very experienced taffer to succeed on Master difficulty, as certain equipment (eg lockpicks) isn't always available) * Construction * Build Time : Long enough to become as pale as a vampire and lose nearly my entire social life, my sanity and my will to live... =================================================================================== * Voice acting * Miss Parker: Wynne Phalvach Al-Garond: Avatus Steven D Crane: Ymochel Furthermore: Kaya, Ryan Fenton, Ymochel, Wynne, Tygold, Xaitan * Acknowledgements * Many special thanks go to all my voice actors who helped me get some non-Thief life into the level.
